William Pugh

A rising sophomore, William is interested in political theory and African American studies and has aspirations to go on to law school and eventually have his own civil rights law firm focused on education and criminal justice. 

Outside of the classroom, he is involved in the Princeton Debate Team, Black Student Union, Student Government, Whitman Residential College Council, the P.R.E.P. Prison tutoring program and founded "Woke Wednesdays", an on campus podcast series dedicated to lifting the voices of underrepresented voices and perspectives on campus.

This summer William is interning with Illinois State Senator and Princeton Alum, Heather Steans in Chicago.

His favorite books include: The Autobiography of Malcolm X, Democracy in Black by Dr. Eddie S. Glaude, and Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson

William is ecstatic to join the Whitman Council team and welcome the Class of 2021!
