Welcome new and returning Whitmanites! I am thrilled to be your dean and have the opportunity to get to know each and every one of you. It’s going to be an epic year!
I am starting my seventh year at Princeton University and my second year as Whitman College Dean. In my previous role as a Director of Student Life, I became very familiar with the residential college system and the student experience at Princeton. My colleagues and I in the Whitman College Office work closely together to support our students, so please be in touch with your questions or concerns. You are always welcome to make an appointment, or just stop by our offices in Wendell Hall. We also look forward to chatting with you in the dining hall and at the myriad programs we have planned for you this year, so don’t ever hesitate to say hello.
Prior to moving to New Jersey, I worked as an assistant academic dean at the University of Virginia, where I earned both my BA and Ph.D. I braved the snow-laden winters of New England to earn my M.Ed. at the University of Vermont, a drastic change from the mild climate I grew up with in Delaware. My dissertation focused on how the pursuit of perfection and effortless perfection impacts female college students, and I used that research to help found the Princeton Perspective Project. As an undergraduate, I was passionate about service, student leadership, and college athletics. Now I enjoy spending my free time traveling, horseback riding, and reading. I am also an academic fellow and faithful fan of the Tiger women’s swimming and diving team. I look forward to meeting all of you and learning from you. Welcome to Whitman!!!
