Claire Thompson '20, Sarah Fillier, two years into her Princeton career, and Canada defeated the U.S. 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night in Calgary, Alta., delivering Canada its first IIHF world title in nine years. The U.S. had won the last five tournaments, held every year since Canada's last win except in Olympic years. Canada had won silver in the four tournaments following the 2012 win, and then bronze in the last tournament held, in 2019.
