College Council

Dear Whitman Class of 2020,

Congratulations on being sorted into Princeton's (undeniably) best residential college! I hope you're all thrilled to start getting to campus, because all of us here at Whitman are excited to start meeting and getting to know you!

It seems like just a formality to welcome you to your home for the next few years, but the numerous times you will hear that welcome when you arrive in September is reflective of how proud we are of the community here at Whitman.  We are the newest college as well as the most comfortably air conditioned (!!!) set of castles on campus.  However, what makes Whitman such a strong community is the people within.  From the lovely diverse students you will be joining, to the dedicated college office staff, Whitman's people are what make it such an extraordinary place to call home.

Princeton is an amazing opportunity to pursue your passions, explore exciting interests, and strive intellectually. Whitman will help to provide you with a safe, comfortable, encouraging environment from which to grow as an individual through both moments of joy and in the face of challenges.

One of the resources in our residential college is the Whitman Collee Council.  As a member of the Council, I hope to help keep you busy and engaged in the community! College Council plans many events throughout the school year including:

Ÿ  College Night: On Tuesday evenings, our dining hall is open only to Whitman students from
5 to 7 in an effort to build community. Many college nights will come with a special menu and a
theme such as "Breakfast Club" (breakfast for dinner), "Steakhouse", and Staff Favorites.

Ÿ       Whitman Olympics: Rio 2016? Nothing compared to Whitman Olympics, a spirited
competition between advisee groups to kick off the school year!

Ÿ        Broadway Show Trips: every year, Whitman provides several trips into NYC to see Broadway
shows at heavily discounted prices. Past shows have included- Wicked, Book of Mormon, and
                 The Lion King!

Getting excited? We hope that you are looking forward to your time at Princeton and in Whitman! If you have any ideas that you'd like to see next year, feel  free to email me at echiou@princeton.edu. We on the Whitman College Council want to help make the transition to college life as smooth as possible.

On Behalf of the Whitman College Council, welcome to Princeton!
